Grand Blue Races and Traits

Compare currently documented Grand Blue race families and trait roles, then decide when to keep or reroll without chasing unsupported odds.

Grand Blue races shape your character identity and can add passive advantages, while traits provide another set of build modifiers. Current community references agree on several race families and a large trait pool, but exact roll chances and effects are not official here. Read the live character panel before spending a reroll.

Currently documented race families

Human and variants

Community guides describe the default Human plus long-arm, long-leg, half-fish, and Celestial variants with different utility.

Best question: does the live passive help your current combat or travel?

Water and fishing

Seafolk

Reported around swimming, water survival, recovery while wet, and fishing support.

Status: broad role community corroborated; values need testing.

Movement and melee

Beastfolk

Cat and bunny variants are reported with speed, night or moon interactions, and close-combat effects.

Status: conditions and values need testing.

Mining and durability

Dwarf

Reported to support resource gathering, equipment, Health, or weapon use with a movement tradeoff.

Status: exact bonuses need live confirmation.

Air mobility

Skyfolk

Community references describe gliding, airborne movement, and longer or additional dashes.

Status: control behavior needs device testing.

This is a “currently documented” index, not proof of every variant. Do not import Fishman, Mink, Skypiean, or other names from a different pirate game unless the Grand Blue menu displays them.

How to evaluate a race

Start with the activity you repeat most. A quest-focused player benefits from movement, survival, or a consistent damage support. A life-skill player may value fishing or mining bonuses more than a rare combat effect. A boss learner needs a passive that works reliably, not only under a dangerous condition.

Open the character panel and record the exact passive text. Test the effect in a controlled route: swim the same distance, mine the same node type, dash across the same path, or fight the same normal enemy. Keep stats and equipment unchanged.

If the passive cannot be observed, do not assume a percentage from a community table. It may be conditional, changed, or described incorrectly.

Trait roles instead of a copied list

Current indexes contain many traits across economy, gathering, travel, food, defense, recovery, experience, and damage. Names such as Hoarder, Bargainer, Climber, Gourmand, Nimble, Iron Will, Prodigy, Second Wind, Sturdy Guard, and several damage conditions are reported publicly, but the pool is still changing and some entries are incomplete.

Economy

Mobility

Survival

Damage

Trait names alone are not enough. A low-health bonus may encourage bad boss habits, while a common utility effect can improve every session.

When to keep your starting result

Keep a race or trait when it supports the current plan and the next reroll would consume a scarce resource. Human is a workable starting point according to current guides. A common passive is also workable if it improves survival, money, travel, food, or materials.

Set a minimum result before rolling. For example: keep any mobility trait for an explorer, any consistent defensive trait for boss learning, or any gathering trait that supports your chosen life skill. This prevents a long reroll session from turning a usable account into a worse one.

Do not chase a tiny published chance. Rates can change, community tables can be wrong, and no roll count guarantees a specific outcome unless the live interface states a pity rule.

How to reroll safely

Open the character customization or trait panel through the normal Grand Blue interface. Confirm which slot will change, how many rerolls you have, and whether the button consumes one immediately. Take a screenshot of the current effect and remaining count.

Roll once, read the full result, and compare it with the keep rule. Stop when the result meets the rule or when the reserve reaches the number you promised not to spend. Do not redeem or purchase more during the same emotional chase.

Current sources say race changes may be available from character customization and trait rerolls from the trait panel. Codes are often mentioned as a source, but no active string is verified here. Use gameplay rewards or current official announcements rather than an untested list.

Match race and traits to builds

A melee build wants movement, survival, or effects that reward reliable close attacks. A fruit build wants resource, safety, cooldown, or damage support confirmed by the live text. A gun build values positioning and its actual scaling stat. A life-skill build benefits from fishing, mining, food, or economy support.

Avoid stacking several conditions that rarely overlap. A night-only race effect plus a low-health trait may look strong on paper but produce little value in ordinary quest loops. Prefer one dependable effect, then let fruit, style, weapon, equipment, and stats cover other needs.

Use Beginner Builds to choose a direction and Stats to support the action you repeat.

Troubleshooting

If the passive does not work, check its condition, current time or environment, equipped slot, and whether a reconnect is required. If a reroll button is missing, return to the expected character menu and finish any tutorial lock. If the displayed count changes without a new result, stop and reconnect before spending again.

If a community name is absent, search the live panel by effect. The pool may have changed or the source may have copied another game. Do not report a missing race as removed after a single screen.

Quick answers

What is the best race in Grand Blue?

There is no in-game-verified universal best. Seafolk is reported for water and fishing, Dwarf for mining and durability, Skyfolk for air movement, Beastfolk for speed or melee, and Human variants for flexible utility.

Should a beginner reroll Human?

Not immediately. Keep a usable start until your build goal is clear and rerolls have a stop rule.

Are published race and trait odds reliable?

They are not treated as official here. Check the current interface and avoid spending based on a copied percentage.

Sources checked: current BloxInformer race and trait indexes plus independent recent beginner walkthroughs. Names and broad roles are community reported or corroborated; all rates, precise effects, slots, and reset behavior need live testing.
