Grand Blue is a pirate adventure built around learning an island, completing its quests, improving a combat kit, and sailing onward when the next route opens. Start with the interface and a repeatable early loop instead of spending every reroll or chasing the rarest fruit. The experience is in Early Access, so menus, requirements, and rewards can change; the route below focuses on actions that remain useful even when a number moves.
Start here by goal
First session
Beginner Guide
Follow a clean order through the Logbook, Anchor Town, your first combat practice, and the first sailing decision.
Progression
Leveling Guide
Use quests and bosses as milestones, recognize when a loop has gone stale, and move through the currently documented towns.
Inputs
Controls
Learn movement, interaction, attacks, block, dash, sprint, skill keys, weapon handling, and mobile checks.
The most dependable opening is to read the in-game Logbook, make sure basic inputs work, and accept a nearby quest before wandering. Current walkthroughs consistently place the opening in Anchor Town and describe Clown Town and Maple Village as later stops. Exact level gates and NPC spellings are community-reported and should be confirmed against your quest tracker.
A practical first-session order
Do not let a code list or a tier list delay the route. Promo rewards are temporary, while movement, quest reading, blocking, resource saving, and ship handling remain useful on every account. If you receive a Cursed Fruit early, inspect its skill tree and keep a fallback fighting style; fruit abilities add to your kit rather than replacing the need for normal attacks and defense.
Learn the combat layers in a safe order
Begin with movement and camera control. Land a short light-attack string, step away, and repeat until the range is predictable. Add block and dash as separate defensive answers: hold block for a readable incoming string, and dash when you need to leave the hit area or reset the camera. Only then add a heavy attack or a skill.
Grand Blue officially advertises fighting styles, Cursed Fruits, challenging bosses, and rare weapons or equipment. Treat these as connected layers. Your fighting style shapes reliable close-range actions, a weapon or skill scroll can add another tool, and a fruit brings its own skill progression. A useful kit has an opener, a safe repeatable attack, a defensive exit, and one answer for groups.
Against a boss, spend the first attempt learning. Watch which attack tracks, which animation has a long recovery, and whether the arena creates camera problems. If the boss changes behavior, stop committing long strings until the new pattern is clear. The combat hub separates preparation, equipment, styles, and encounters so one uncertain drop does not distort the whole plan.
Use quests to decide where to go
Quest text and markers are more reliable than a remembered level number from a video. Finish the local story objectives, then identify the repeatable objective whose enemies are close enough and safe enough to clear consistently. A slightly lower reward can be faster when the walk, respawn, or failure rate is lower.
Current community walkthroughs describe a three-stop Early Access path: Anchor Town first, Clown Town second, and Maple Village later. Use those names as orientation, not as a promise that every server has the same requirement. When a route does not open, look for an unfinished story hand-in, a level condition shown by an NPC, an unsummoned boat, or an active quest pointing back to the previous island.
The World hub connects islands with quests, NPC roles, life skills, and sailing. It deliberately uses landmarks and task roles instead of invented coordinates. On mobile, this is often easier to follow than a giant map because you can match the dock, gate, raised platform, shop, or village center visible on screen.
Spend resources with a job in mind
Early rerolls are easy to waste because race, traits, fruit, fighting style, equipment, and stats all look important at once. Hold scarce rerolls until you know your preferred damage source and routine. A mobility or gathering passive can be more useful to an explorer than a combat label with a tiny roll chance.
For stats, build around the actions you actually use. Community guides currently describe Strength for melee, Precision for firearms, Energy for fruit-heavy play, Health for survival, and Agility for movement, while Willpower needs more live confirmation. Do not copy an exact point ratio from another level band. Add points in small groups, repeat the same enemy test, and stop when the change no longer solves the problem you had.
For items, compare function before rarity. A basic weapon you can upgrade and use safely may outperform a rare drop with awkward range. Food and life skills can support boss attempts without permanently changing a build. The Builds hub provides goal-based templates rather than claiming one universal setup.
Check Cursed Fruits without gambling your route
The official description says fruits can appear on plants and trees every hour, that there are multiple acquisition methods, and that skill levels are saved separately for each fruit. Those rules reward patience: continue questing, note the top of the hour, and check nearby greenery without abandoning all progression.
Before consuming a fruit, inspect what the current interface says about replacing, storing, or swapping it. Public guides disagree on permanent-eating rules, while the official mastery statement suggests fruit progression is remembered. Do not assume remembered skill levels also guarantee free swapping. Use the Cursed Fruits index for currently documented names and the acquisition guide for a safer route.
Recovery when you feel stuck
If normal enemies take too long, verify that the correct weapon or style is equipped, skill scrolls are actually slotted, and points support your main damage source. If you die quickly, add Health, practice block timing on weaker enemies, and use food only after understanding its effect. If Energy empties before the boss phase changes, shorten skill strings and leave a reserve for defense or movement.
If no quest marker appears, reopen the active quest list, return to the last giver, and read the dialogue again. If a boat does not appear, move to an unobstructed dock and look for the current summon control. If an NPC name from a guide is missing, search by role and landmark; recent sources disagree on some spellings even when they point to the same town function.
Watch a current route before sailing
The walkthrough below is useful for seeing the scale of towns, menus, fruit handling, and ship travel. Use it as visual orientation, then follow the live quest tracker when its values differ from the video.

Your next three pages
Read Controls before a serious boss attempt, use the Leveling Guide when the local loop slows down, and open Beginner Builds before spending scarce rerolls. That sequence turns the opening into a repeatable plan: control the character, follow the route, then specialize.
