Grand Blue uses familiar Roblox movement plus separate actions for interaction, normal attacks, defense, movement, skills, and weapon handling. The PC bindings below agree across current community references, but Early Access can move or rebind actions. Open the live controls or key hints first and treat the server display as final.
PC controls quick reference
These bindings are community corroborated as of September 2, 2026, not an official permanent key map. If a key does nothing, look for a rebinding option, current prompt, unequipped weapon, missing skill slot, or chat focus before assuming the guide is correct.
Practice movement and camera first
Stand in an open area away from a boss. Move forward, backward, and sideways while rotating the camera. Keep one object centered while circling it. This is the same skill used to read a boss wind-up without walking into another enemy.
Test sprint on a known route and release it before interaction. Test dash in each direction and note whether the current race, trait, Agility, or airborne state changes it. Do not import dash-count assumptions from another Roblox pirate game.
If the camera clips against a wall, move toward the center of the space instead of continuing a long attack string. A readable camera is part of defense.
Learn light, heavy, and skill timing
Use mouse button 1 on one weak enemy and count the normal string. Stop before the enemy answers. Then add mouse button 2 only after a hit has landed. Heavy attacks may have more recovery; if the enemy can punish it, reserve the action for a confirmed opening or a specific job such as knockdown.
Press each equipped number-key skill once outside a dangerous fight. Watch range, wind-up, movement, resource cost, cooldown, and where the character ends. A skill that moves you forward can be an approach, but it can also carry you into a boss attack.
Skills learned from a scroll or trainer may still need to be equipped. Open the skill menu when an unlock message appears, assign the action to a visible slot, and test it before leaving the island.
Block versus dash
Block when you understand the incoming string and remaining close creates a safe punish. Dash when the attack covers the guard, the area is dangerous, the camera is lost, or you need to create space. Practice both on the same enemy so you learn the difference in position and resource use.
Do not hold block throughout an entire encounter without watching the current guard behavior. Do not spend every dash on approach. Preserve one defensive answer for a boss phase change or an unexpected second enemy.
If F appears unresponsive, confirm that chat or a menu is not focused, that your character is not locked in another animation, and that the live key hint still shows F. If Q moves the wrong direction, test whether movement input at the moment of the dash determines its path.
Interactions, NPCs, and tools
Use E only when the prompt belongs to the intended NPC or object. At a crowded dock or shop, move until the correct prompt is highlighted. Read the dialogue before confirming a purchase, reroll, fruit action, or quest because those operations can spend scarce resources.
For a gathering tool, equip it and follow the tool-specific prompt. Current walkthroughs disagree on some early shovel steps, so the live Wizards Apprentice objective is more reliable than pressing E at a location from memory.
On a ship, community guides report normal movement input and a hold-interact action for the upgraded ship’s anchor. Verify the prompt on the actual vessel. A starter boat may not expose every control or feature of the later ship.
Mobile controls
Mobile should present touch buttons for core combat and interaction, but exact placement, labels, and visibility need current device testing. Begin by rotating the camera and moving at the same time. Increase or decrease Roblox camera sensitivity until you can keep one target visible without lifting repeatedly.
Make sure dash, block, jump, and the first skill are not hidden behind device cutouts or the thumb area used for camera control. Test one button at a time. If the skill bar expands, close and reopen it until you know which slot corresponds to each move.
For small screens, avoid accepting several quests whose trackers cover combat buttons. Collapse panels when possible and use the NPC index for landmark directions that do not require keeping a wide table open.
Controller status
No complete controller layout is confirmed here. Roblox may translate actions through the platform interface, but Grand Blue-specific prompts, radial menus, skills, and ship controls need live testing on each supported device. Avoid applying control diagrams from unrelated games because their prompts and interaction models will not match this experience.
If using a controller, verify movement, camera, interact, light, heavy, block, dash, skill selection, weapon handling, menu navigation, and boat control in that order. Keep keyboard or touch access available until every necessary menu can be reached.
Fix common input problems
When attacks fail, equip the weapon or style and exit the menu. When a skill fails, confirm it is assigned, off cooldown, and supported by the equipped tool. When interaction selects the wrong object, change angle and wait for the correct prompt. When controls stop after chat, press Escape or close the input field.
If mobile buttons overlap, change Roblox UI or device display scaling only through normal settings and restart once. If controller prompts alternate with keyboard prompts, disconnect duplicate devices. Never install a macro or automation tool to solve a normal control issue; it can violate game rules and makes troubleshooting harder.
Five-minute control drill
Spend one minute circling an object, one using only light attacks, one blocking, one dashing, and one adding a single skill. Then complete a normal quest with the same loadout. Continue to Combat for encounter decisions and Beginner Guide for the first island route.
Evidence status: PC bindings are community corroborated by BloxInformer and current AllThings. How walkthroughs. Mobile and controller layout, rebinding, ship actions, and any changed Early Access prompts require live device testing.
